Refund Policy — MDSyntax

Before you buy: MDSyntax is free to use for reading, editing and standard export, with no time limit. Try it on your own files first — the free tier is the trial, and it never expires.

1. How to request one

Email [email protected] from the address you bought with, or include the order number from your receipt. That's the whole process. We aim to reply within two business days and to issue the refund the same day we reply.

Refunds go back to the original payment method through our merchant of record, Polar. Depending on your bank, the credit typically appears within 5–10 business days. Your licence key is deactivated when the refund is issued; the free tier keeps working, so you don't lose access to your documents.

2. Statutory rights

If you're a consumer in the EU or UK you have a statutory 14-day right of withdrawal for digital purchases. Our policy matches that period and does not ask you to waive it. Where local consumer law gives you a longer or stronger right than this policy, that law applies and this policy does not reduce it.

3. Bought through a store?

Purchases made in the Mac App Store or Microsoft Store are refunded by Apple or Microsoft, not by us — we have no access to those transactions. Request a refund through Report a Problem in your Apple account, or through Order history in your Microsoft account. If a store declines a request we think it should have honoured, tell us and we'll do what we can to help, including issuing a direct licence.

4. Multi-seat purchases

Several licences bought together are arranged directly with us, so refunds are handled as part of that arrangement and on the same fourteen-day principle. If we materially break something and can't fix it in reasonable time, ask for a pro-rata refund and you'll get it.

5. The narrow exceptions

We reserve the right to decline a refund where:

The request comes more than 14 days after purchase and no statutory right extends it.
The same customer has already been refunded for MDSyntax and bought again.
The licence was obtained fraudulently, or resold in breach of the Terms of Service.

These exist for abuse, not for genuine buyer's remorse. If you're in an odd situation that the list above doesn't cover fairly, write to us — we'd rather refund you than argue.
