MDSyntax is made by a small team, which means your email reaches someone who can actually change the code. There is no ticket queue and no chatbot.

For a rendering problem, a small example file that reproduces it is worth ten paragraphs of description — but never send us anything confidential.
Common questions
How do I activate after buying?
On the machine you bought from, you do not have to. Checkout hands the licence straight to MDSyntax and the app unlocks itself. For your other two machines, or if the handoff does not fire, open Preferences → Licence → Activate and paste the key — it is on the page you land on after paying, and in your purchase email. To move a seat, deactivate the old machine from that same panel first; the slot frees up immediately.
What happens if I'm offline?
Everything except licence re-validation and “New from URL” works with no network at all. The app re-checks a licence about every 14 days, and Pro keeps working for 30 days without any connection — so a flight, a firewall or an outage never locks you out of software you paid for.
Which features need Pro?
Export templates, batch export, the watched-folder Library, version history, document formatting, replace-all, and new-from-template. Reading, editing, saving, find, the Git panel and standard PDF / Word / HTML / image export are free forever.
Why does the Mac App Store version have fewer features?
Apple’s sandbox forbids running binaries outside the app bundle, which the Git panel and the iCloud “Download now” action both rely on. That edition also uses In-App Purchase rather than licence keys. If you want the complete product on macOS, take the direct download.
Can I make MDSyntax the default app for Markdown?
Yes. On macOS: right-click a file → Get Info → Open with → MDSyntax → Change All. On Windows: right-click → Open with → Choose another app → Always. The installer registers about forty file types, so this works for code, config and transcript files too.
A diagram or formula won't render.
Mermaid diagrams need a fenced mermaid block, GraphViz a dot block, and math $…$ or $$…$$ (a bare $5 stays currency). If a valid one still fails, send us the block and we’ll fix it.
I edited a file but Finder shows it unchanged.
That is deliberate. Your edits are held in a draft until you press ⌘S or the Save button, so the file on disk is always the version you last chose to write — edited lines stay shaded until you save. Nothing is at risk in the meantime: if the app quits unexpectedly, MDSyntax offers your unsaved work back next time you open the file.
Windows warns me before installing.
The direct Windows download is not yet code-signed, so SmartScreen shows a caution on a new installer. Choose “More info” → “Run anyway”. Installing from the Microsoft Store avoids the warning entirely, because Microsoft signs Store packages themselves.
Do you have a Linux build?
Not yet. It’s on the list. Tell us if you want one — demand is how we order the list.
Where does my data go?
Nowhere. Documents are read and rendered on your machine and never transmitted. The full account is in the Privacy Policy and on the Security page.
